1907 Small 'Papua' Overprints Wmk Vertical 1/- black & orange with
Overprint Double One Diagonally SG 44ba corner block of 4 from the
lower-left of the sheet, the upper-left unit also with Inverted 'd'
for 'p' on both impressions, generally strong colour with just
hints of oxidisation, light Port Moresby cds of 10JAN08, Cat
£56,000+, for singles plus a significant premium for the 'd' for
'p' variety (which is unique). Ex William Frazer and 'Tatiana':
sold at a Swiss auction house in 2015 for £38,400. David Brandon

Only 24 stamps from one sheet of 30 (5x6) were affected by the
double overprint, of which five remained uncancelled. Of the 19
cancelled stamps, this is the only block in existence. As can be
seen from our illustration, each unit has a differing configuration
of the two overprints
