1940 (Nov 7) registered airmail cover to Shropshire per 'Clipper' via America with the exceptional franking of 5d Ram plus Kangaroos 2/- maroon pair, £1 grey - rounded corner; Cat $5000 on cover - and £2 black & rose-carmine - Cat $30,000 on cover (see footnote in the ACSC) - tied by 'REGISTERED/SYDNEY NSW' cds, minor wrinkling & a bit aged. The Two Ocean airmail rate was 5/10d per ½oz x11 = £3/4/- + 3d registration + 2d late fee (for registered mail). One of the most exceptional of all Commonwealth-Period covers. A 'crown jewel' for any collection of Kangaroo frankings, registered mail, Clipper/Flying Boat covers, wartime/censor mail, or sheep/wool. Ex Arthur Gray: sold in 2007 for US$15,525 (= A$21,560 at the time). [The ACSC states "Two examples are recorded, used on airmail envelopes". The other - Ex Peter O'Rourke; corner fault and rated £2/0/10d only - sold in 2020 for $18,800]
