Lot 3087 Newfoundland

  • Scott 15
  • SG 15
  • Unitrade 15
Description

Newfoundland, 1860, 1sh Orange (15; SG 15). Large to huge margins all around, the size of which are unheard of on the One-shilling value, brilliant rich color, clear impression, light oval grid cancel EXTREMELY FINE GEM. AN INCREDIBLY CHOICE USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1860 ONE-SHILLING ORANGE, SCOTT NO. 15. The One-shilling value of the 1860 Issue is notorious for having small or no margins. The Ryterband example, with its huge margins, bright color and unusually light cancel, has all of the attributes one would desire, but probably thought could not exist on a single stamp. The rarity of this stamp in this quality cannot be overstated. Ex Collier and Lanza. With 1995 B.P.A. and 2009 Greene Foundation certificates. Scott $11,000. SG £12,000. Unitrade C$15,000
