1854 AUGSBURG-PARIS: BISHER EINZIG BEKANNTER BRIEF AUS BAYERN AN KAISER NAPOLEON III: 28.12.1854, Augsburg-Paris, bis 8,75 g leichter Neujahrsbrief, tarifgerecht mit der u.a. für diese Verwendung 1854 neu eingeführten 18 Kreuzer gelb frankiert (Tarif ab 1.7.1854). Der Brief ist adressiert "An Seine Kaiserliche Majestät", den französischen Kaiser "Napoleon III in Paris". Als Zeichen der Bezahlung stempelte die Aufgabepost "P.D.", also "paye jusque a destination". Am 30.12.1854 lief er über Forbach nach Paris, wo er noch am selben Tag zugestellt wurde. Neben dem Grenzübergangsstempel "Baviere-Strasbourg, 30.12.54" zeigt der Brief den sehr seltenen Ankunftsstempel "Paris-Franchises, 30.Dec.54". Dieser Franchise Stempel dokumentierte die völlige Portofreiheit von Kaiser Napoleon III. Es handelt sich bei dem Brief (auch laut Herrn Gügel M.A. Napoleonmuseum Arenenberg, Thurgau) um den bisher einzig bekannten bayerischen Brief an den französischen Kaiser Napoleon III.
