Dr. Reinhard Fischer 186th Auction

The auction house Dr. Reinhard Fischer in Bonn will hold its 186th auction from May 18 to 21. Our 186th auction includes over 7,400 lots with a large variety of rarities and highlights in the area of philately as well as an interesting offer of more than 1,500 coin lots and more than 200 militaria, jewelry and watch lots.
Stamps:
Two impressive special collections of the post-war philately are liquidated in a special catalog. The Thüringer Wald collection – Bezirkshandstempel Bez. 36 (district handstamps, district 36) offers a particularly wide range of stamps with almost 350 lots. The numerous issued stamps include rarities such as the piece of cover with two copies of the MiNo. IuVII of 60 pfennige with the overprint “Storkow” (type 1), which was separated decades ago and was part of different collections. The incredibly rare piece was now reunited and is offered at a starting price of 6,000.-. Even more rare is the 1 mark with overprint “Großbeeren a”. One of the most well-preserved copies of the extremely rare stamp is offered at starting price of 8,000.-. The offer includes the very rare MiNo. IrVII with the overprint “Angermünde” of which only two known copies exist in flawless MNH condition (starting price 2,000.-). The “Rhein-Ruhr Glück” collection – commemorative stamp booklets of the GDR represents one of the largest collections of this area of philately. The collector intended to collect all cataloged (and in part only known thanks to him) types and variants of the commemorative stamp booklets of the GDR, complemented by numerous rare and almost never offered sample and testing booklets. The fruits of these decades of passion for collecting can be found in nearly 60 SAFE albums and many card index boxes and is offered with almost 600 lots. Even extremely rare varieties such as the sample booklet M3a.14 and the testing booklet 2 (starting price 500.- each) or the commemorative stamp booklets 3c and 6ckax (starting price 400,- each) are offered.
Aside from the sought-after standard issues, the main catalog comprises a number of special items.
The Old German States are well represented, including three “Sachsendreier” in postmarked condition and the rare first issue MiNo. 42a of the 70 kreuzer of Württemberg in flawless postmarked condition (starting price 2,000.-). The area of the German empire includes a large offer of breast shield philately with many values in MNH condition and rarities such as the MiNo. 9 ** in extremely fine condition (estimated price 6,000.-). A flawless mint copy of the 30 pfennige “China hand stamp” (MiNo. 12) is offered at a starting price of 2,200.-. The “Kuban” parcel stamp in flawless mint condition is offered at a starting price of 2,800.-. Several special collections are liquidated in the SOZ and GDR philately with a large number of upper margin, watermark and color varieties of the sought-after early issues. In the area of the West German philately, a large special collection of tamp booklets is liquidated. Among the highlights are the rare stamp booklet MiNo. 5aa in flawless MNH condition (starting price 2,000.-) and the testing booklet Heuss type MH6caII in flawless MNH condition (starting price 3,000.-). A Zurich MiNo. 1II with red Zurich rosette is offered at a starting price of 5,000.-. The overseas philately offers a large variety of stamps, from classic issues such as the Argentina MiNo. 10 postmarked (starting price 2,000.-) to sought-after modern sets and sheetlets of the People’s Republic of China.
Countless estates are offered in their original untouched condition without any item selected previously. Almost all of the nearly 1,000 lots with a starting bid of more than 530,000 euros came from collectors. There is something for everyone, from a large complete estate in 12 cartons to a specialized German Reich collection with a lot of certificates (starting price 8,000.-) to small stamp collections “against bids”.
Numismatics:
Classical Antiquity: Many Greek coins from a Rhenish private collection are offered, such as a stater of Lysimachus XF (estimated price, 1,000.-), The Roman coins include an aureus of Vespasianus (estimated price 2,000.-) Not only high-priced coins can be found in this section, nut also different coinages with estimated prices in the double-digit or three-digit range.
German coins: German coins are well represented as usual. There are numerous thaler, 2, 3 and 5 mark coins from the German Empire and several very interesting GDR pattern coins and business strike sets of the GDR. A highlight of the imperial silver coins is a 3 mark coin of Württemberg that was coined on the occasion of the 25th government anniversary in 1916 (J. 178, estimated price 6,000.-). Also worth mentioning is a 5 mark coin 1952 Germanic museum PR (J. 388, estimated price 1,000). An extremely rare “Meißener Dom” GDR business strike set from 1981 that is among the rarest numismatic collector’s items of the GDR with only 40 pieces is also noteworthy (estimated price 5,000.-). The Clara Zetkin pattern coin from 1982 is also rare (J. 158P, estimated price 4,500.-).
Europe and overseas: Hundreds of lots from all over the world are offered. Far Easterm gold and silver coins such as a Chinese Panda bimetal set from 1995 (estimated price 1,500.-) or a Russian 100 ruble gold coin snow leopard from 2000 (estimated price 1,000.-). Russian 25 ruble palladium coins are also offered (estimated price 1,800.- each). The catalog includes Bulgarian gold and silver coins such as a 100 levs coin Ferdinand I from 1912 (NGC MS 60 PL, estimated price 3,500.-).
Collections: There is a wide range of country collections as well as smaller lots and entire estates. Especially noteworthy is a very large medal collection in 11 cartons (estimated price 15,000.-). Gold coin collections are offered as well, including a collection with almost only gold medals with musical references (estimated price 30,000.-). There are also small lots and country collections “against bids” (minimum bidding price 10.-).
Mainz collection: In a separate section of the catalog that comprises 388 lots a remarkable collection of Mainz coins and medals will be put up for auction on Saturday May 21. The offer starts with important coins from the Carolingian period , including two denari Louis the German (840-876). One of the denari is a denar (XF) from the Margaretha Ley collection (Lanz numismatics, Munich, 1994, lot 12, starting price 4,000.-). Moreover, there are numerous bracteates as well as guilder, thaler and several double thaler such as a rare thick double thaler from 1674 of Lothar Friedrich von Metternich-Burscheid (estimated price 10,000.-). Many coins offered as part of this collection are originally from significant collections such as the Dr. R. Walther collection and are now made available to a new generation of collectors.
Jewelry and watches: Ladies’ finger rings, earrings, necklaces and watches are offered. Particularly noteworthy is a tanzanite set comprising a ring and two earrings with expertise (estimated price 3,750.-). A valuable Tahiti cultured pearls necklace consisting of 38 cultured pearls is offered at a starting price of 4,500.-. A highlight among the 21 ladies’ and men’s wristwatches is a Ebel Discovery Gent bronze men’s wristwatch with a limited edition of 250 copies (estimated price 1,600.-).

Short Terms and Conditions
The sale of auction lots is subject to differential taxation. If we ship lots inside the EC, the buyer shall pay a buyers premium of 23,8 % of the hammer price and a lot fee of 3,– EUR per lot (both including VAT), also costs of shipping and insurance. If we ship lots to a country outside the EC, the buyer shall pay a buyers premium of 20 % of the hammer price and a lot fee a 3,– EUR per lot, also costs of shipping and insurance. If the goods are exported outside the EC by the buyer himself, it may be possible to refund VAT. For gold coins that are exempt from VAT, the buyer shall pay a buyers premium of 20 % of the hammer price and a lot fee a 3,– EUR per lot, also costs of shipping and insurance.
