It was until 1957 when the first crossing Yangtze Bridge was constructed in Wuhan that the Beijing-Guangzhou railway not needed to take the ferry to cross the river

With a capital of 149,200 rupees, divided into 2,984 shares of 50 rupees each, the Kursiong and Darjeeling Tea Company exemplifies the type of joint-stock companies popular at the time to finance large commercial ventures. Over time, Darjeeling tea evolved into a globally acclaimed product, known as the "Champagne of teas". Companies like the Kursiong and Darjeeling Tea Company played a crucial role in establishing Darjeeling's brand on the global stage. The company's legacy includes not only tea production but also the socioeconomic development of the region and its population. To this day, Darjeeling tea remains treasured for its quality and heritage and is an integral part of the global tea trade.
