Long Island, 1916, ½d mauve on pale green, horizontally lined paper (SG 6), top right corner margin single, without gum as issued, an appealing example of this rarely offered issue; light horizontal crease at bottom mainly outside still margin, otherwise Extremely Fine, only 60 examples were printed on this lined paper, with Gibbs recording only 24 unused examples, ex Marquess of Bute, "Mountrobeck". SG £1,000 ($1,290). Estimate $500 - 750

Long Island, 1916, 6d black on thin wove paper, "Rvenne" for "Revenue" (SG 35a), carbon copy, plate 3, position 13, without gum as issued, a wonderful example of this great rarity with balanced full margins; very minor natural creasing mentioned for complete accuracy, otherwise Very Fine, ex Marquess of Bute. SG £6,000 ($7,750). Estimate $3,000 - 4,000 This error occurred solely on plate 3, position 13. Only three were printed, with just two now recorded, the other in similar condition with light creasing. Certainly a key stamp for any serious collector of this intriguing issue
