paper, measuring 56 x 56mm, that was used for registered envelopes
in 1902. This value and colour was used on the 1898 registered
envelopes but for the 1902 issue they retained the 4c value but
changed the colour to blue. A scarce proof

top 'FOUND OPEN AND OFFICIALLY RESEALED IN THE BRITISH GUIANA POST
OFFICE.' This label has a postmasters signature in blue crayon and
a S. O. SUPT. B. GUIANA 4 AP 42 datestamp (Proud D121) on the front
and a manuscript 'Torn in transit' on the back. The cover has a
tear through the front which was sealed by a piece of stamp
selvage. A very rare label, not recorded by Proud and the first I
have seen
