Bold strike of two-line handstamp on folded cover with accompanying letter datelined London Mar. 27, 1836, addressed to Calcutta, India, red "Forwarded by Morrisison Cryder & Co. London" four-line handstamp (Rowe Rarity 3) partially affected by opening, London despatch, Calcutta arrival backstamps, cover significantly mended and strengthened with rough edges, accompanying enclosure with splitting along folds VERY FINE STRIKE. AN EARLY USE OF THIS SIDEBOTTOM/SMITH TYPE 4b EASTBOUND THOMAS WAGHORN HANDSTAMP. Smith records uses of both Types 4a and 4b between March 1, 1836 and May 5, 1839. Fraser (1784-1835) was a British civil servant and Commissioner of

overall soiling and some splits from opening, Very Fine strike, a
very early use of this marking which is recorded between 1819-20 by
