Description

1850-1, 4 c., black on pale yellow, pelure paper/very thin and transparent, Townsend Type A, with m/s initials of postal official Lorimer WHL, cut square with clear to large margins all round, with part of extremely light BERBICE ds, natural wrinkles, drop of ink close to U of GUIANA and natural paper irregularities as always with this stamps including two small pinholes at foot, there are only three cut square known showing full margin, this stamp has the finest presence of all of them due to being untouched by the cancellation, which makes it appear almost like an unused stamp, this great philatelic rarity is undoubtable the prime showpiece for the out of scale collector, ex Philipp von Ferrary/lot 173/sale X/June 1924 and John E. du Pont, this stamp sold 2014 at David Feldman for a price of 131,000 Euro incl. the commission, signed A. Diena and cert BPA, SG £130,000, XF! Estimate 131.000€.
