1862-68, 1s, slate grey, no wmk, compound perf 11 to 12 1/2 x 14 to 16, horizontal strip of (6) from R1/1-6 on the sheet with centre guide between 5-6, LPOG/LPOG never hinged, outer stamps were hinged, inner (4) stamps are unmounted, odd insignificant traces of perf toning mentioned for full accuracy, an outstanding positional multiple, surely unique and apparently the largest extant of this stamp, with only four blocks of four ever recorded by Messenger, the lower marginal Jaffe, ex Glossop, block realized more than £8500 in 2006, despite being rejoined from two pairs, an extraordinary piece, for the advanced collector, XF!
