1914 picture post card (Wagon Drift, Orange River) with a Kings Head ½d cancelled by a superb strike of the previously unrecorded violet boxed 'POSTAGE FREE / BASE 3A / PASSED BY / CENSOR'. A boxed Base 3 cachet was in use at Uppington prior to the invasion of South West Africa in late 1914, but nothing is known where this BASE 3A was used. The base of the card has fish moth damage, but still an exceptionally fine strike of this very rare canceller
