BAGHDAD 31 MAY 22. A Georgetown 20 JUL 22 arrival cancel is on the

be one of the rarest of destinations for mail out of Iraq

1940 envelope from Osaka, Japan, to Baghdad, franked at a double
weight, the stamps cancelled 15.11.14. (1940) The cover has
bilingual “FOUND OPEN or DAMAGED AND OFFICIALLY SECURED” labels
affixed on all four sides, (Drummond OS4) which have been tied by
BAGHDAD 18 DEC 40 datestamps. A very uncommon item. As this
corresponds with another damaged registered cover from the same
sender to the same addressee on the same dates, it is possible that
the mail was either stolen or ransacked by someone. A scarce item
