to ...mehr CANADA. 1937 cover that was on the C.N.R. train No. 6 from Chicago to Toronto that was derailed at 12.52 p.m. on April 26 after torrential rain fell in Southern Ontario, bursting the dam at Woodstock and flooding the Thames River. The flood undermined the track and the engine and three cars, including the mail car, were washed away killing three people. This cover was damaged by water and the stamp washed off and a blue two line ‘DAMAGED BY WATER / DUE TO TRAIN WRECK’ cachet was applied. A very scarce cover from this incident

1842 Money Letter to London, endorsed ‘Paid Per Halifax Steamship’
with a HALIFAX MAR 23 1842 dispatch cancel on the front. It
probably went overland to Halifax and when it sailed it broke a
shaft 400 miles out of Halifax so did not go via Boston. It sailed
for Liverpool under canvas, arriving in London on April 20th, so
quite seriously delayed. A rare letter from this incident, not
recorded by Hoggarth & Gwynn

MOOSE JAW, SASK, CANADA. On 8 April 1954 the Trans Canada Airlines
flight from Montreal to Vancouver collided with a Royal Canadian
Air Force trainer at 2000 feet near Moose Jaw. Both aircraft
crashed killing all on board. Recovered mail received a two line
cachet or a letter. This cover with a small red SALVAGED FROM /
T.C.A. WRECK is less common than the larger cachet. A District Post
