single-circle postmark FELDPOST N 2. 15/6 and a blue single-circle
postmark JASSY 15/6, a very beautiful and rare letter sent within
Romania, with almost complete content in the German language,
signed and accompanied by a detailed certificate from Ferchenbauer,
owner's mark of Engineer Provera,ex Provera, XF-SUP! Schätzpreis
3.000€.

CRIMEA WAR. 1855 envelope to Paris with a pair of 20c tied by a
rectangle of dots with ‘ACCG’ in the centre. Alongside is an ARMEE
D’ORIENT QUARTIER Gal. 9 FEV 55 cancel. A Paris 22 FEV 55 arrival
cancel is on the back. The whole force sent by France to the Black
Sea was 309,268 soldiers. 70,000 were killed or died in the
hospitals, or were otherwise missing. It is considered that 93,000
were wounded and survived. This compares to 22,000 British deaths

Gesandtschaft in Frankfurt am Main (Deutschland). Die meisten sind
mit schwarzem, blauem oder rotem Rückstempel
"POST-OFFICE/BRITISH-ARMY" und dem Vermerk "via Marseille"
versehen, mit französischem Transit "ESCADRE DE LA MEDITERRANEE",
aber auch ein Brief mit dem Vermerk "From Black Sea Fleet", der
über das französische Postamt in Konstantinopel verschickt wurde,
und zwei vorausbezahlte Briefe, die über das österreichische
Postamt Konstantinopel verschickt wurden, mit L1 und schwarzem
Desinfektionsvermerk "NETTO DI FUORA E SPORCO DI DENTRO" von
Semlin. Ein seltenes Ziel für britische Post von der Krim und eine
faszinierende Partie aus dieser Kampagne

THE CRIMEAN WAR 1854-1856/UNDATED LETTER FROM SIDNEY HERBERT, FRIEND OF NIGHTINGALE. Undated letter confirming an appointment written and signed by "Sidney Herbert" and to "The Honble G. Denman". Herbert was a friend of Florence Nightingale and it was much due to him that she was recruited to supervise and organise the hospitalisation of the sick and wounded in the Crimea. (Ref 110879)
