REVENUES: 1906 KEVII £25 red & grey (B&H 107). The spectacular
largest existing multiple on 1909 mortgage bond drawn for the
Randfontein Gold Mining Company. 54 copies on first page, 9 copies
on second page, all tied by neat "Registrar of Mining Titles /
Transvaal 19 JLY 1909" oval datestamps. A magnificent exhibition
showpiece for connoisseur! See additional images below. The
mortgage was for £630,000. The stamp duty on mortgage bonds in this
period was 5/- for every £100 or part thereof of the amount of the
mortgage. Thus in this instance the stamp duty due was £1,575 being
paid by the sixty-three £25 affixed here. In making up the revenue
stamps for payment a single full sheet of sixty stamps was used:
the selvedge and one row was removed, the row then being used on
the second sheet together with three additional stamps
