an ...mehr 1915 stampless envelope to London endorsed at the top O.H.M.S. to an officer on H.M.S. Cumberland. A German DUALA, KAMERUN 27.5.15 datestamp is the only cancel on the cover. H.M.S. Cumberland was sent to West Africa after the beginning of the war in August and supported operations in the Cameroons where she captured 10 German merchantmen at Duala on 27 September. She was assigned to the 5th Cruiser Squadron in January 1915 where she conducted patrols for German raiders and escorted convoys for the rest of the war. A very scarce O.H.M.S. cover from the Cameroons

A letter written from Spanish Town, Jamaica on April 25th 1813 and marked "By packet, Lady Emily " to Arbroath, Scotland, Paid 5/- and 4/8 with an additional boxed "½" Scottish toll with a London 10 AU 1813 transit backstamp and AUG 13 1813 arrival h/s on the front. A straight line ‘SPANISH TOWN JA’ marking is on the back. Mail from Jamaica left on the Lady Emily packet on MY 22 1813 which was wrecked on the reefs off Bermuda on June 9th 1813, with all mails, passengers and crew saved (as reported in the Lloyds list (4791) of 30 July 1813 and in the BERMUDA GAZETTE June 19 1813). Mail from the wrecked Lady Emily was possibly carried home by the Duke of Montrose packet, which was captured and ransomed by the U S Frigate ‘President’. A journey time of 82 days to Arbroath. A unique wreck cover, unrecorded by Hoggarth and Gwynn

S. S. FORT VICTORIA 1929. At 4.30 p.m. on 18 December 1929 the
Bermuda and West Indies Steam Ship Company steamer Fort Victoria
was rammed by the American steamer Algonquin off Sandy Hook, New
York, in thick fog. She sank about 7.30 p.m. without loss of
passengers or crew. Recovered mail received a label, applied to the
back of the envelopes. There are two different types, the one with
the number 1000 at the lower left, the other with the number 3000.
