A shortage of soldiers led the British government to recruit a FOREIGN LEGION in NORTH GERMANY, it was trained in FOLKSTONE & ALDERSHOT camps. It sailed to the CRIMEA & arrived at SCUTARI (CONSTANTINOPLE). Letters to or from the BRITISH GERMAN LEGION are exceedingly rare.
