635th Van Dieten Auction
October 7th-8th, 2016
Immediately following the special sale no. 634 of the magnificent Hardjasudarma collection auction no. 635 will take place on October the 7th and 8th. We are not exaggerating when we think that this auction promises to be perhaps the greatest of our nearly 125 years of existence. This particular perspective we owe to our contributors who have entrusted their collections, large and small, to us for auction.
We kindly ask your special attention for the very extensive, specialized collection of Old German States. You will find single stamps, pairs, stripes, blocks, postmarks and covers, all in the most wonderful quality. The describing of the lots and the presentation is given the utmost care. We trust that this very fine collection, divided into hundreds of lots, will attract attention from collectors and dealers all over the world.
The number of intact collections has increased again compared with our previous auction. The variety is enormous; almost all countries are more or less well represented. Many interesting collections of covers, internment camp mail and others from the Second World War in Europe are being offered. You will find the many hundreds of lots in the sessions with albums, folders and boxes. We urgently ask you to take enough time for viewing.
As a tradition, we start the sale with an extensive range of the Netherlands and former Overseas Territories. Among the many lots of the 1852 Issue you will find unused copies and the well-known black proof on white carton paper, however in a sheet part of 50 copies! Furthermore single stamps, pairs, strips and the 15 cent in a fine used block of four, postmarks and covers. Are you looking for rare stamps, varieties and misprints? We offer a nice selection of those as well.
The Postal History session contains, as usual, many special items. The pre-philatelic section offers the first part of the exhibition collection ‘The Postal History of the Low Countries up to 1813’ by the late Mr Van den Brink. We are delighted to present the Dr Han T Siem collection of the King William III issue of 1870, showing many wonderful frankings and very rare destinations. Finally some more KPM covers (Royal Packet Company) from the Kerzner collection and early Air Mail.
