Conditions of Sale

The placing of a bid shall constitute acceptance of all the following terms of business of the Auctioneer:

1. The auction is unsolicited, and material remains in your own name and on your own account. This account must be paid promptly in Euro.

2. The increase stages amount to 5-10 % of the call value and/or according to the present bid, depending the circumstances.

3. The highest bidder receives the award after call of the highest bid. The auctioneer has the right to refuse the award to regroup or withdraw individual lots. With ambiguity a repeated call is reserved.

4. The award obligates the bidder to pay. With issue of the award the risk is passed to the bidder. Property in the item or material passes to the bidder after payment.

5. The auctioneer receives a commission from the buyer of 17% of the price of sale, as well as, where the lots are delivered, the cost of sales for postal charges, packing and insurance. Value Added Tax of 7% is added on top of the price of sale, commission, packing etc. The VAT is not void with exportation to other EC countries. Customers from countries of the EC pay the VAT in Hildesheim, excluding dealers with registered ID number. For foreign purchases from outside of the European Union, which we send directly abroad, the VAT is void.

6. Written bids (orders for auction) are accepted and accomplished protecting the interest of the customer. The written highest bid is only accepted if a counter bid (does not) exist(s). Lots are sold to the highest bid. Best or highest bids are auctioned up to the fivefold bid price. The written bidder immediately receives information about the lot he auctioned.

7. All lots can be inspected before the auction in the auction office. Consignments for inspection are possible with single stamps with suitable references and postage refund

8. The description of the lots is made with great care and the best knowledge, but is not guaranteed. The catalogue information and indication of value are partly determined by our staff and partly by the sellers themselves. These values, especially for large objects (doublets, collections etc.), are noncommittal and therefore cannot be subjects to complaints. They are always examined and evaluated with great care. This is not always indicated in the catalogue. All complaints must be received within two weeks after pick up or delivery. Complaints are settled by the auction house at cost to the seller. The auctioneer may, in any complaint, refer the buyer to the seller. With a proven greivance the buyer has the right to refund the purchase price and the commission only. Notices of defects are accepted only if the objects are in the original state in which it were auctioned. If a lot contains more than twenty stamps, complaints on individual pieces cannot be accepted. Complaints of any kind concerning collections, collected lots or large lots, in particular notices of defect because of quality or quantity, are not possible. Descriptions of collections are only references and the objects are sold as seen. If the auctioneer already paid off the proceeds of the auction to the seller, the buyer can only make complaints to the seller. In this case the auctioneer will disclose the address of the seller as listed in the account file. Actions against the auctioneer or the seller fall under the statute of limitations, with expiration of three calendar months, starting the first day on the month following the auction.

9. The auctioneer reserves the right to exclude any person from the auction. Trade and exchange are not permitted in the auction hall.

10. Delivery of the auctioneered lots is at the risk of the receiver. Postage, packing and insurance expenses are at the buyer's expense.

11. These terms of sale at auction apply in general to all business that proceeds also outside of the auction.

12. By bidding you are accepting the terms of Veuskens Auction House as laid out in this contract.

13. Jurisdiction for all disputes is Hildesheim. If the buyer is not a merchandiser in the sense of § 29II ZPO, then the competence of the district court Hildesheim applies to the remainding procedure as agreed upon. If one or more regulations of these terms for sale at auction should be or become ineffective, the validity of the remaining regulations remains unaffected by it. An ineffective regulation is to be replaced with an effective regulation that is comparable in economic content and purpose. Please note: Original German text is the authoritative text!

Oktober 12-13, 2012
Large international auction offer with many lots and collections.
January 11-12, 2013
What makes our single lot section outstanding in many areas is the prior dissolution of several internationally renowned collections. Particularly mentionable may be countries such as France or Austria for example. Our Germany section features a strong assortment of Former German States and scarce Sudetenland material.
The Allied Zones material is extraordinary as well, featuring inexhaustible amounts of SBZ (Soviet Occupation Zone) varieties and rarities of interest.
Last but not least our section of collections and estate items has received several additions from exhibition collections, most of which we are able to offer in its original condition without removing anything. E.g. a splendid collection of Old Russia including many rarities not only in terms of theme and subject offers an interesting range of items.
April 12th - 13th 2013
The focus of the 81st Auction are large amounts of qualified collections and untouched estates. From the Lot 5000 you can choose excellent Collections and Items.

Letters collectors will be pleased with the Lot 5307 spanning 70 large boxes. But even in the smaller areas await hundreds of interesting lots for new owners. We could often make the starting prices very modest, and many bid Lots without a starting price .
