1849/50: Cérès 10 c. bistre, a fine vertical pair with ample to large margins all round, used on 1851 entire letter to Pointe â Pitre, Guadeloupe, tied by grill obliterators in black with framed PD and 'Castres-S-L'Agout' datestamp of despatch at right (Dec 5). Reverse with Paris and 'Bureau Maritime - Havre' transits, the latter in red. The address panel with 'par voie d'Angleterre' deleted as inapplicable for the reduced tariff, a splendid and extremely rare franking for the reduced Military concession rate (introduced Nov 25, 1849). A rarity of classic French Postal History. Signed Brun.
