(Anthony Virvilis) The Hellenic Philotelic Society (www.hps.gr) is
organizing an International Philatelic Exhibition under the name “NOTOS”
(meaning “South” in Greek) from 12 to 15 November 2015,in Athens, under the
patronage of the Continental European Philatelic Federation (FEPA)
and the Association Internationale des Journalistes Philatéliques (AIJP).
In view of the new environment of financial difficulties
many countries face in present days and the absence of Postal Authorities
in financing the big philatelic shows we were accustomed to, this Exhibition
is introducing a different approach (low entry fees, no publications but
a well-maintained website, no medals but certificates for the exhibitors,
no daily allowance to Commissioners or Jury) targeting to new methods
in organizing philatelic exhibitions.
NOTOS 2015 -hence its title- is addressed to the 21 Mediterranean and Balkan
countries members of FEPA and/or FIP as well as to any collector worldwide with an
exhibit related to the abovementioned territories. Kindly note, however,
that the Philatelic Literature Class will be open to any author or editor worldwide,
irrespective of subject.
The Individual Regulations of NOTOS 2015, entry forms and useful details are uploaded
on the functional exhibition website www.hps.gr/notos2015.
The main features of this international festival of Philatelic Literature may be
summarized as follows:
- entry fee per Literature title is 20 euro only (approx. US$ 25),
- participants are asked to send one copy only, thus permitting voluminous works
to participate, avoiding heavy postal charges for the prospective exhibitors,
- judging shall be carried by FIP accredited Judges,
- entrance shall be free,
- as there shall not be any publication, the catalogue of exhibits with full
details as well as the awards
will be uploaded on the exhibition website along with any other information
  and news in real time,
as soon as they become available,
- following the closure of the exhibition, the exhibition website will remain
alive because it is part of the Hellenic Philotelic Society's website, and, therefore,
it will be fully accessible and operational in the future.
Prospective exhibitors are asked to fill in the entry form which is available online.
If the exhibitor originates from one of the countries which have designated
a National Commissioner, the entry form will be automatically forwarded to the OC,
his National Commissioner and the exhibitor himself. If not, the entry form shall be
forwarded to the OC and the exhibitor.
Following the great National Exhibition IPHLA 2012 which was devoted entirely
to Philatelic Literature, the international exhibition NOTOS 2015 is scheduled and expected
to provide a great forum for the promotion and advancement
of the printed philatelic literature which no one is expected to miss.
