Ballon Monté - La Ville de Florence A fantastic little cover <<to Sweden>> flown with the second balloon that left Paris in the morning of the 25th of September 1870. The cover is extremely rare, not only for the destination, it is also stampless and therefore taxed with a clear mark of <<the Swedish due canc. "56".>> Besides the destination and due markings it is also unusual for its extremely small size (7 x 5 cm), the Swedish Railway canc. on back and the wax seal, which is very rare due to the weight limitations on the balloons. It does not carry the "par ballon monté" endorsement. The official Governement decree was not issued until 27.9 1870, when the two first balloons had already left Paris. Cert. Albert Schneider.
