Description: "German offices, Tsingtau leasehold: 1900, 2nd provisional Tsingtau surcharge: 5 Pf. with a second larger handstamp 5 Pf.' on 10 Pf. canc. TSINGTAU 25 JUL 00' on ppc ""mandarin grave (where the the dead were buried standing upright) to Wyk/Föhr, Northern Frisia/Germany. When this provisional surcharge was made, there were only enough printing types for 50 stamps. As the basic stamp came in sheets of 100, each sheet needed to be run through the press twice. This left stempas from the 5th and 10th rows with the '5 caught in in the 'CHINA overprint which was thought to be unreadable. To solve this problem, 1st a single addtional '5 was tried. But this did not seem to work, so a 2nd additional surcharge was created: a larger ""5Pf"" placed lower than the 1st ""5 Pf.' This stamp is pos. 43, from the 5th row of the sheet with gutter margin on bottom. rare used on a postcard. Not found thus in either the great Hermann Branz or Helmut Schmidt collections, showpiece; signed AF 979 by Albert Friedemann himself with his cert. #979 (1929) (M)" | Anbieter: Auktionshaus Christoph Gärtner Auction minimum Bid: 13000.00 EUR | ||||||||||||||
